Spring/Summer 2009, African inspired patterns are in vogue. Although stark white and colonial khaki ruled the RL runways, I chose a more colorful option, Lush from Modern Gypsy. The shape is extremely flattering, feminine yet modern. The pattern is bold and wild so I kept accessories quite simple. I could have chosen some ethnic pieces, but went with simpler choices, black pearl earrings from Second Mirage (currently closed but available in Xstreet SL) and bangles from Zaara. I did not want to over play the African ethnic theme. Over-doing it can turn the whole look into a costume. The yellow clutch is a lucky chair prize from Bare Rose Haute Couture. I chose yellow instead of the more obvious choices, black or red, because I think too much color matching can be boring and dowdy. The shoes are from ETD, one of my favorite styles for spring/summer.
Such an eye-catching dress deserves dramatic make-up and hair. The hair is from a new store, Labieja, which I read about on Emi’s blog. I love this store. The choices are so fashionable! Be sure to check it out if you like haute couture look right out of a glossy high fashion magazine or runway. The skin is one of my all-time favorites from LF CHAI. This is from Launa’s previous line, which you can find at her outlet store, Chai Skins Outlet.
